Founded in 1973, the Margaret Jenkins Dance Company (MJDC) has been a part of the cultural fabric of San Francisco for nearly four decades. Beyond the creation of over 75 works by Jenkins, the values and activities central to the mission of the MJDC are artistic collaboration, choreographic development, mentorship and education. The Company performs regularly in San Francisco and around the world, operates a studio and administers a mentorship program for choreographers called CHIME. |

Responsibilities of the Administrative Assistant: • Administer rentals and maintenance of the Margaret Jenkins Dance Lab, including scheduling of renters and CHIME artists, contracting, invoicing, new renter orientations, supply ordering, and overseeing the work-exchange program; • Assist the Projects Manager and General Manager with projects, scheduling and correspondence; • Maintain the FileMaker Pro database and manage bulk mail and company mailing lists; • Maintain and expand our social networking presence, including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Yelp; • Assist with the updating and maintenance of the MJDC website; • Arrange hospitality and catering for receptions and special events, as well as solicit vendor donations; • Liaison to all visiting artists and professionals, including artist services for V.I.P. and international guests; • Assemble press, presenter and grant packets, and maintain the press and archival files; • Assists in preparations for the Company's annual Home Season; • General clerical duties, including ordering supplies, mail duties, filing and other responsibilities, as assigned; Required Qualifications: • Excellent oral and written communication skills; • Strong interpersonal skills: ease in interacting with diverse groups of people; • Excellent computer skills, especially proficiency in Microsoft Office and FileMaker Pro on Macintosh platform; • Self-motivated: ability to manage time, work independently, multi-task and set priorities; • Accuracy, discretion, and attention to detail; • Demonstrated experience in problem-solving and in meeting deadlines; • Positive work attitude, flexibility and a willingness to learn; • Have a valid driver's license and wouldn't mind driving for work-related activities. Preferred Qualifications: -Familiarity with basic web design, HTML, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, etc.; -Previous experience and familiarity with the San Francisco non-profit arts environment; -Enthusiasm for the arts and for the field of modern dance. Compensation: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour, commensurate with experience. |
